Over 1 Week Old and We Haven't Killed Him Yet :)

We're back after a couple days of silence. I've got to hurry since Connor is sleeping while I write this, but will almost certainly sense that I am not paying attention to him and wake up very soon. It's been a busy couple of days with doctor visits, feedings, visits from friends, blowouts, "sprinkle" sessions, etc. Right now, Tanya's family is on the way in to see Connor, but more importantly, to see Tanya's mom Cindy and Roger get married. Anyway, I'll put in some pictures now cause that's what we all want to see :)

Yeah, I survived the first week despite all my parents attempts to get rid of me

I got my first bath. I thought I deserved a little more modest venue, though . . .

Family has started to arrive for the weekend wedding and they all want a piece of Connor!

Now Accepting Royal Audiences . . .

Hello All My Subjects,

After 6 days of life preparation, I am now ready to meet my loyal subjects in small, manageable groups. It's not that I am intimidated by any of you, but more that I can't walk/talk/etc. on my own yet. Regardless, please submit your petitions with my inner cabinet (aka Mom and Dad) and we'll try to recognize all requests. However, no promises can be made at this time.

I digress. Below are some pictures from my most recent audience. Enjoy the event chronicled below.

I am more than willing to get close to my subjects . . .

I often spend significant time in deep contemplation.

I enjoy holding court from my specially designed, human throne.

Connor is home! All hail the King. All must tailor to His whim!

Hello Everyone,
Connor is now home with us and doing well. After the first round of doctors visits, he is doing well. So is Mom. Carzily, the doctor wants Connor to gain weight now. I know this is normal for every kid, but I really don't want a 200 lbs 1 year old. Anyway, we took some pictures that we'd like to share.

First there is the picture of Connor with his pacifier. It seems to eclipse his head.

Next, here is a picture of Connor "thinking". Pfleger, my kid will beat your kid in calculus as well, if you know what I mean :)

Then there is the Oma (grandma) factor. Man, it seems like the prior generation just might have something to teach us.
Finally, like father like son. I just made it back to the house after a run to feed Connor myself. Tanya was napping, so I figured I would use one of the many methods we've learned so far to feed Connor. Listen folks, if you are going to have kids, natural breast feeding is the way to go. I love all the modern day gadgets, but "au natural" is so much easier. Of course, Connor is his father's son, so he has to do it the most difficult, pre-madonna way possible. I LOVE THIS KID!!!
Okay, must sleep soon. Thanks for all the calls, e-mails, and packages. We'll try to get in touch as soon as we can. Thank you all.

Baby Berg has a Name!!! And He's HUGE!!!

Tanya and I thought it would be fun to take a couple of pictures of the nursary before the baby came, so here those are.

Connor Robert Scharpenberg was born at 7:28PM on June 19 weighing 9lbs 7oz, measuring in at 21.75 inches long. HE'S HUGE!! He's also all-on or all-off. If Connor is sleeping, good luck waking him up. We'll experience the joy of trying to get him to go to sleep soon enough.
Here are a few picture of the first couple of hours. We'll try to keep them coming!

Not Even Born, But Already Late!!!

Alright folks, this must be my kid, cause Berg is LATE!!! 3 days late and going strong to be exact. It is June 14 and the kid seems perfectly happy to stay where he/she is. Meanwhile, Tanya and I are waiting anxiously for the big arrival. Tanya stays close to home so that she's not too far away when "it happens", and I've cleared out my work calendar and house projects so that I can concentrate on the kid. But, where is BERG?!?!?!

Just picture us, sitting on the couch, eating potato chips/watching TV/playing video games and just waiting. Might as well be Homer Simpson sitting on the couch, drinking a beer, watching NASCAR.

Why Berg, WHY!!!!

Ultrasound Pictures

Alright, I do have the ultrasound pictures on my computer today, so here they are. You'll have to use your imaginitaion a bit as the technology shows things in cross-section. The first two pictures of Berg are in cross section right down the center of his/her body and give a nice profile. The other one gives a cross section from the perspective of looking straight at Berg's face. As a result, you get a nice skull and crossbones type of look. Enjoy :)

The Beginning

Hello Everyone,

Tanya and I have started this blog to try and keep everyone posted on the EXTREMELY exciting world of the Seattle Scharpenbergs. Baby Berg is about 3 weeks away, give or take a week. I'm voting for a late delivery by maybe 4 days. Tanya votes for yesterday or the day before. Either way, we're in the home stretch. We'll try to post pictures and such to keep everyone up to date. If I'm not too lazy tonight, I'll take some pictures of the very beautiful, prego Tanya and post them so you can all see the "progress". Take care.
